rangers

Another great gathering around our work table at the nursery today: we are repotting our 2-year old plants and getting them ready to sell - the little plants are sure happy to be in larger pots and eager to find a new home! Our awesome volunteers today were also able to remove the weeds from ALL our growing new seedlings in the shade house (they are truly looking happy now) and did a great job cleaning and upkeeping the nursery.  Thank you guys, for the amazing work and the great time we can spent together.

What a day! And how beautiful is Old Man Lake?!

This is one of those days we love best here at FOLD.  We are planting trees in a clear crisp winter day, among this beautiful bush in rich colours brought by the sunrays. Sunny, a nice group of volunteers, and we are planting tree seedlings!

We planted 2 trays of tree seedling!

Weeding & planting seedlings at the nursery today!

What a fun day today at FOLD! We welcomed Emma, our new local ranger, by meeting up earlier at the Adventurous Spoon. We then met the rest of the volunteers, as usual by the nursery at 3 pm, and headed out to Back Beach for a cleanup. We had such a good turnout today (14 people + 2 rangers) that we divided into two groups thus covering lots of ground.

Today we did some revegetion work in the dunes west of Long Gully campground and some maintenance items at the campground itself.

Threatened Hooded Plovers nest regularly on West Beach! How many did know that? They nest as well on some of our back beaches and on Long beach.  Since West Beach is also hazardous to drive on, does not have a through access, and is a favorite walking destination for many locals, by blocking vehicle access here we give these little birds a better change to survive.
