fencing

Today we split into two groups: one group did a great job fixing the fence on part of the coastal track and another group kept the work at the nursery going.  Another fabulous day spent together caring for our conservation park and our plants! Thank you all!

Had a great crew out today, we fixed up a coastal track section that had some damage - just down by the  where the track meets the beach. Maintaining the marked track in areas like this (especially this close to the beach) prevents "blow-outs" and the eventual widespread loss of vegetation in the foredune. We appreciate everyone that sticks  to the tracks! (as most do). Also did a beach and dune cleanup along Erringtons beach, amazing how much plastic turns up in just a week (since we were last here).

Last couple weekends we've been working on the coastal track section between Stony Rise and Evans Cave Rd. Two sections of track fence with steel cable were damaged (the posts were cut). We took the opportunity to replace and upgrade the damaged sections, and plant out reveg to support the adjacent foredune areas. Great crew today and got lots of work done.

Great small crew out today, and welcome back Cath! We fixed up some dune protection posts and cable, and did a southern portion beach clean-up, lots of plastic on the beach at the moment but we made a good dent!

Threatened Hooded Plovers nest regularly on West Beach! How many did know that? They nest as well on some of our back beaches and on Long beach.  Since West Beach is also hazardous to drive on, does not have a through access, and is a favorite walking destination for many locals, by blocking vehicle access here we give these little birds a better change to survive.

Today we are back to Long Gully to complete our work there: we installed fencing to control vehicle damage in the dunes + did re-vegetation in the same area and checked on ALL the Long Gully seedlings... they're doing great! Another lil wombat came out to supervise the work ;)
