News & Updates

Good evening, I hope everyone is well.

A quick reminder for our work session tomorrow: We've got some planting to do near new track protection areas in the park. We'll meet at 3pm as usual at the FOLD nursery and head out together from there.

Several of our group have also been discussing a possible submission regarding the recent "South East Coastal Lakes Project" proposal.  (more info at https://www.parks.sa.gov.au/park-management/new-in-sa-national-parks/south-east-coastal-lakes-project). I think a short meeting would be good to work this through. Anyone who has an interest, could you please let me know availability Monday / Tuesday and hopefully we can find a time that works for everyone.

Also, a notice from Friends of Butcher Gap in Kingston regarding an event this week: "Nicola Bail who is a bat researcher living in Kingston is going to do a presentation on bats, Tues July 25th at the Crown Hotel @ 4.30pm. She expects the presentation to be about an hour, and then heading outside with her equipment to have a look at dusk. She doesn’t expect that we will see a lot at this time of year though. We plan to have tea at the Crown afterwards." If you're interested in attending, please contact Janet via email alfalfa9@hotmail.com

Hope to see you tomorrow!

With many thanks.

Beach cleanup at 3rd ramp and 2nd ramp: Lots of debrids from the sea scattered on the beach and mostly tangled with seaweed (ropes, bottles, 4 siringes, a tootbrus, gloves, pieces of plastic, tiny bits of plastic)

Good evening all,

Hope you are having a great weekend. Just a quick reminder for our work session tomorrow. We'll meet at 3pm at the FOLD nursery and will either head out for beach clean-ups or reveg planting (or perhaps both if we have a turnout like we did last week!).

Hope to see you there.

With many thanks.

Today we had a great crew for tree planting at Lake St. Clair. We planted out a couple trays (200 trees) in a new area on the West side of the track, towards the lake. We've been planting Melaleuca lanceolata (Dryland Tea Tree) and Allocasuarina verticillata (Drooping Sheoak) trees @ Lake St. Clair for a number of years. It's a special lake, and habit for the threatened Swamp Antechinus.

Good morning all,
I hope this very-windy-weekend is going well for everyone so far!

I wanted to send a big thank you to everyone who came to the AGM meeting last Sunday. It was a great turn-out and it was very encouraging to review what we've done over the last year together, and spend some time discussing how we move forward into this year's work.

For our work session this afternoon, we're planning to head out to Lake St Clair to plant out Tea Tree seedlings, we'll meet at the FOLD nursery at 3pm as usual, and head out from there.

Hope to see you there!

Roland

Good evening all,

Just a quick reminder for our admin meeting tomorrow. We'll run through our AGM items first, and then have a regular meeting. I'm attaching the updated agenda here.

Meeting is 3pm upstairs at the Caledonian Inn - Thanks Holly!

Appreciate you all and look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

Wet and windy weather for our beach clean-up today. But a keen crew and got the job done. Came across a dead penguin on Evans Cave beach. A rare sighting, but it's important to know they're around. Way back to the surf-bus we walked along the coastal track. Not much trash on the track this time of year, and a little protection from the wind.

Good morning to everyone on this lovely day!

Just a quick note on our work session today. If the weather takes a turn for the better, I was planning to head out to the northern end of Little Dip for beach & track clean-up, check on two areas where we installed poly track fencing, and to look at Matches beach dune degradation.

If the weather doesn't agree, we'll head to Mahalias for a coffee and chat on the community outreach efforts that Angie and Helen have been working on in recent months.

Meet at the FOLD nursery at 3pm as usual.

Thanks.

What a day! And how beautiful is Old Man Lake?!

This is one of those days we love best here at FOLD.  We are planting trees in a clear crisp winter day, among this beautiful bush in rich colours brought by the sunrays. Sunny, a nice group of volunteers, and we are planting tree seedlings!

We planted 2 trays of tree seedling!

Good evening all, I hope your week is going well.

In addition to our regular Sunday work session, we are helping with a weed management session at Cullen reserve next Tuesday, details on both below:

Sunday - Regular FOLD meet-up: This weekend during our regular work session, we'll be planting out seedlings at Old Man Lake campground. Meet at 3pm Sunday at the FOLD nursery and we'll head out together from there.

Tuesday - Weed management @ Cullen Reserve: A large student group from Unity College will be helping with weed management at the Cullen Reserve. We'll be providing equipment and all FOLD members are invited to come along to help! We'll meet around 11:30am at Robe Holiday Park (stay left past the solar panels). and work together for a couple hours. Please let me know if you're planning to come along!

Thanks very much,

Roland
