News & Updates

Good evening all,

Just a quick reminder for our work session tomorrow. If the weather agrees, we'll head out to Lake St. Clair to plant a couple trays of Tea Tree & Sheoak seedlings, otherwise we'll get stuck into nursery work and perhaps a coffee around the corner! Meet at the FOLD nursery at 3pm as usual, and go from there.

With many thanks!

Roland

Started off with work at the nursery today, cleaning up an area where council used to keep the old main street wine-barrel planters, and weeding and combining seeding trays of Olearia axillaris (Coastal Rosemary), Myoporum Insulare (Boobiala) and Bursaria Spinosa (Christmas Bush). Then, we split into two work crews: Long Beach (between 2nd and 3rd ramp) has lots of plastic trash form recent big swells, so Tony, Lesley, Rinaldo, Massimo and Roland headed there for a beach clean-up, and Malcolm and Hillary headed out to do some reveg planting at a coastal track site near Long Gully and a couple trees near the new sign at Freshwater Lake. Couple pics of the clean-up crew below.

Good evening all,

A quick reminder for our work session tomorrow afternoon. We've got some nursery work to do, and then will head out for either a beach clean-up (Long Beach plastic is terrible at the moment!) or reveg planting, depending on numbers and interests of the crew in attendance. Meet at the Nursery at 3pm as usual.  (For anyone keen to come early and get started on nursery work, I'm planning to be there around 2pm this week ).

Last weekend reveg went great, attaching a photo (thanks for sending Mark!) of the crew planting seedlings just off the coastal track.

Thanks all and hope to see you tomorrow.

Planting near coastal track

Today we planted out two areas near the coastal track that have new vehicle fencing to protect vulternable cliff-top dunes. Great turn-out, great effort all! We planted Olearia axillaris (Coastal Rosemary), Myoporum Insulare (Boobiala) and Leucophyta brownii (Cushion Bush) propogated by FOLD volunteers from cuttings taken in the park about 8 months ago.

Good evening, I hope everyone is well.

A quick reminder for our work session tomorrow: We've got some planting to do near new track protection areas in the park. We'll meet at 3pm as usual at the FOLD nursery and head out together from there.

Several of our group have also been discussing a possible submission regarding the recent "South East Coastal Lakes Project" proposal.  (more info at https://www.parks.sa.gov.au/park-management/new-in-sa-national-parks/south-east-coastal-lakes-project). I think a short meeting would be good to work this through. Anyone who has an interest, could you please let me know availability Monday / Tuesday and hopefully we can find a time that works for everyone.

Also, a notice from Friends of Butcher Gap in Kingston regarding an event this week: "Nicola Bail who is a bat researcher living in Kingston is going to do a presentation on bats, Tues July 25th at the Crown Hotel @ 4.30pm. She expects the presentation to be about an hour, and then heading outside with her equipment to have a look at dusk. She doesn’t expect that we will see a lot at this time of year though. We plan to have tea at the Crown afterwards." If you're interested in attending, please contact Janet via email alfalfa9@hotmail.com

Hope to see you tomorrow!

With many thanks.

Good evening all,

Hope you are having a great weekend. Just a quick reminder for our work session tomorrow. We'll meet at 3pm at the FOLD nursery and will either head out for beach clean-ups or reveg planting (or perhaps both if we have a turnout like we did last week!).

Hope to see you there.

With many thanks.

Today we had a great crew for tree planting at Lake St. Clair. We planted out a couple trays (200 trees) in a new area on the West side of the track, towards the lake. We've been planting Melaleuca lanceolata (Dryland Tea Tree) and Allocasuarina verticillata (Drooping Sheoak) trees @ Lake St. Clair for a number of years. It's a special lake, and habit for the threatened Swamp Antechinus.

Good morning all,
I hope this very-windy-weekend is going well for everyone so far!

I wanted to send a big thank you to everyone who came to the AGM meeting last Sunday. It was a great turn-out and it was very encouraging to review what we've done over the last year together, and spend some time discussing how we move forward into this year's work.

For our work session this afternoon, we're planning to head out to Lake St Clair to plant out Tea Tree seedlings, we'll meet at the FOLD nursery at 3pm as usual, and head out from there.

Hope to see you there!

Good evening all,

Just a quick reminder for our admin meeting tomorrow. We'll run through our AGM items first, and then have a regular meeting. I'm attaching the updated agenda here.

Meeting is 3pm upstairs at the Caledonian Inn - Thanks Holly!

Appreciate you all and look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
